DATA
July demand and supply drop 20% compared to pre-pandemic period
According to air transport data for the month of July this year (available only in Portuguese), released on August 31 by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the demand and supply of domestic flights recorded in July this year showed a retraction compared to the same period in 2019, of 23.6% and 22.1%, respectively.
In July 2021, more than 5.8 million passengers were carried in the domestic market, a number 31.3% lower than the total recorded in the same period of 2019.
In the international market, considering factors such as border closures and tourism travel restrictions, the indicators also remain under retraction. Passenger demand in the seventh month of the year was 80.3% lower than that recorded in 2019. The drop in supply was 65.1%.
The comparison of these indicators with the same period in 2019 has been carried out considering that aviation was not under impact from the pandemic caused by Covid-19, which has affected air transport for at least 17 months.

Interactive Consultation
Since 2018, ANAC has made available, on its website, a tool in which it is possible to conduct regionalized surveys of the main air transport indicators. Through the Interactive Consultation (available only in Portuguese), it is possible to obtain, for example, the number of flights for a particular airport and compare the data with other periods, either by month or year.
The tool is a major step forward by the Agency in airline industry data transparency and, through it, it is possible to access information dating back more than two decades. The search in Interactive Consultation can be refined by flights, number of passengers transported, domestic or international nature. The Airport ranking can also be consulted, showing the participation of each terminal in the Brazilian air network, as well as several other possibilities that portray the evolution of commercial aviation in Brazil.
