Demand for flights in June is 31% lower than in 2019
According to air transport data for the month of June this year (available only in Portuguese), released on July 23 by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), demand and supply of flights showed a retraction compared to the same period in 2019, of 31.8% and 31.2%, respectively.
In June 2021, about 4.2 million passengers were carried in the domestic market, a number 39% lower than that recorded in 2019.
In the international market, considering factors such as border closures and tourism travel restrictions, the indicators also remain under retraction. Passenger demand in the sixth month of the year was 85% lower than that recorded in 2019. Decline in supply was 67%.
The comparison of these indicators with the same period in 2019 has been carried out considering that aviation was not under impact from the pandemic caused by Covid-19, which has affected air transport for at least 16 months.
