ANAC authorizes flights beyond visual range for new model of drones
The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) granted a Project Authorization to AL Drones for Beyond Visual Line of Site (BVLOS) flights of the eBeeX drone, manufactured by Swiss company SenseFly and represented in Brazil by Santiago & Cintra Geotecnologias.
BVLOS approval means that drones can fly without the pilot maintaining visual contact with the aircraft and without the need for auxiliary observers to fly long distances. For drones to enjoy this operation, manufacturers must demonstrate to ANAC that their designs meet specific safety requirements through engineering analysis and flight tests in the presence of responsible Agency engineers.
With this authorization, all SenseFly eBeeX operators in Brazil will be able to fly BVLOS. For this, it is necessary to obtain a Special Airworthiness Certificate for RPA (CAER) for the aircraft. The professionalization of this sector is fundamental for more companies, from various market segments, to have access to certified and qualified drones for flights beyond visual range. This type of certification will help expand the operation of drones in a relevant way for agriculture, mining, registry and construction, which are just some examples of the application of this product.
