CORONAVIRUS: Key information for air transport sector
The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) is closely monitoring the actions taken by the Ministry of Health and the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa), Brazilian authorities that are at the head of combating the coronavirus (COVID-19). According to the most recent information from these agencies, until now, there is no indication for applying any restrictions to international traffic, but for reinforcing recommendations to travelers in order to reduce exposure and transmission of the disease.
ATTENTION: if you have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing, within a period of up to 14 days after traveling abroad, look for a nearest Health Unit and inform about the trip.
Recommendations for travelers abroad
Travelers who are abroad are advised to follow the recommendations of local health authorities and the following prevention and control measures for human coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV-2):
- Avoid contact with people with respiratory symptoms.
- Avoid contact with animals (living or dead).
- Avoid consumption of raw or undercooked animal products.
- Avoid visitation in places with records of transmission of suspected or confirmed cases for human coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV-2).
- If you need assistance at the health service, provide detailed travel history and symptoms.
Adopt standard precautionary measures: wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating food, after using public transport, visiting places with a large flow of people such as markets, shopping malls, cinemas, theaters, airports and bus stations . If you don't have access to soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Do not share personal items such as cutlery, plates and other utensils. Avoid touching mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue (dispose of immediately after use) or with your arm (not your hands).
Transport of hand sanitizer on aircraft
The transport of this material by passengers is permitted both in carry-on and checked baggage, as long as it does not exceed the following limits:
Domestic flights - carry-on and checked baggage
- Maximum 500 ml or 500 g per package and 2 liters or 2 kilos in total, per person, including all other personal items that are classified as a dangerous goods.
International flights – carry-on baggage:
- It must be transported in bottles with a capacity of up to 100 ml each;
- Bottles with a volume greater than 100 ml cannot be transported, even if they are partially filled;
- All bottles must be placed in a transparent plastic package (which can be closed and containing a maximum capacity of 1 liter), and must be placed loosely inside the closed package;
- The plastic package must be presented for visual inspection at the passenger boarding inspection point, with only one plastic package per passenger allowed.
