Brazilian legislation and the international agreements for the movement of plants, plant products, and agricultural inputs set forth the rules for quality assurance, safety, and compliance for these products as well as the assessment of the risk of the spread of pests and diseases.
In Brazil, the inspection and checking upon entry of agricultural products and inputs are performed by the Ministry of Agriculture through its International Agricultural Surveillance System (VIGIAGRO). The phytosanitary, quality and identity requirements and procedures are specific to each type of product, including beverages, food, and agricultural inputs.
