What Happens When the Products Arrive in Brazil
It is possible to know if the products will be submitted to inspection or monitoring and verification procedures by MAPA upon their arrival whether by air, land, train or sea. Check at the VIGIAGRO Unit if the products of your interest or the cargo containers will have to be inspected.
The inspection procedure for consignments is performed with an approach based on agricultural risk management, defined by taking into account a series of criteria, listed in Article 30 of Normative Instruction 39/2017.
In practice, after analyzing the documentation, a MAPA official Federal Agricultural Inspector/Auditor will tell the importer if their consignment will be approved by the agricultural inspection or if further action such as inspection, sampling, treatment, isolation, and the providing of additional Information will be required or if an atypical situation or problem with the products has been identified (e.g. the presence of insects).
The details of the operating procedures and dispositions after the document-based checking of the consignment can be found in chapters IV and V of Normative Instruction 39/2017.
