ANIMAL FEEDINGSTUFFS

The import of animal feedingstuffs must comply with the standards for registration at SISCOMEX, according to Normative Instruction 51/11.

Procedures: 

- Products registered with MAPA - exempted from authorization prior to shipping.

- Products exempted from registration - exempted from authorization prior to shipping. Except for fresh grains, hay and silage, products exempted from registration must have prior registration in MAPA in order to be imported.

- Products without registration in MAPA (samples, use by farmer) - import subject to prior authorization.

- For products subject to authorization prior to shipping, importer must submit the application to the service responsible for the inspection of the livestock inputs at the Federal Superintendent’s Office for Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of the state having jurisdiction over the importer, accompanied by the other documents required by the Normative Instruction 51/11.

- For products exempted from prior authorization, the importer shall produce at the point of entry the documentation required by VIGIAGRO for clearing the products.

GENETIC MATERIAL

Queries on the procedures for the import and export of animal genetic material must be submitted to the Coordination Office for Animal Transit and Quarantine (ctqa@agricultura.gov.br) of the Department of Animal Health of the Secretariat of Animal and Plant Health, which is the department responsible for defining the import requirements and the export certificates for animal genetic material.
