Health Requirements
Each and every export of live animals or animal products and by-products must comply with the requirements regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), such as those related to the processes of registration and listing of establishments.
Furthermore, health requirements (specific health requirements) for exporting are also established by importing countries and may cover topics ranging from animal health aspects to product quality. Such requirements are negotiated with foreign health authorities, within the scope of the Secretariat of Animal and Plant Health (SDA) before they are defined and established for each product.
Every establishment interested in exporting should check if specific requirements exist for the countries of destination. Check here for: Procedures and Requirements for Listing National Establishments
If there are requirements that must be complied with for the eligibility of the establishment, the company should request an assessment by the Federal Inspection Service (SIF). For further information about SIF, please click here (only in Portuguese)
If the establishment complies with the requirements of the market and the Federal Inspection Service (SIF) considers it fit, a case file will be submitted in the SEI (Electronic Information System) as per the rules of Normative Instruction 27/2008 and Memorandum-Circular no. 176/2016//DHC/CGI. The Inspection Service of Products of Animal Origin (SIPOA) of the region responsible for the establishment shall issue a technical report, which, if favourable, will be submitted to the Department of Inspection of Animal Products (DIPOA) of SDA.
