Health Certification
Once registered and listed, the establishment is fit to export animal products which must be accompanied by the International Health Certificate (CSI).
The International Health Certificate (CSI) is a printed or electronic official document issued by the competent authority for the national or international movement of animal raw materials and products in compliance with the health, technical and legal requirements.
The procedures for this certification have been established by Normative Instruction no. 23, dated July 26, 2018, which also presents the following important concepts:
- Health Certification: A procedure by which the competent authority of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) ensures that the animal raw materials and products are compliant with the health, technical and legal requirements, either printed or electronically;
- Certification Center: A MAPA unit that has a Federal Inspection Service approved to issue National Health Certificates (CSN), International Health Certificates (CSI) and Movement Permits (GT);
- Issuing Unit: The Federal Inspection Service (SIF), Certification Center or International Agricultural Surveillance Unit (VIGIAGRO) responsible for issuing the health certificate;
- Declaration of Compliance of Animal Products (DCPOA): A printed or electronic document issued by the establishment’s representative, to prove that the animal raw materials and products to be certified comply with the health, technical and legal requirements of the importing country; and
- Movement Permit (GT - Guia de Trânsito): A printed or electronic official document issued by the competent authority for the national movement of animal raw material and products in compliance with the health, technical and legal requirements.
