BIOINPUTS - Increasing Brazilian Biodiversity
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Established by Decree No. 10,375 of May 26, 2020, and sworn in on October 21, 2020, the Strategic Council whose presidency is in charge of the Secretariat of Innovation, Sustainable Development and Irrigation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, is responsible for supporting the strategic planning and strategic actions developed for the implementation of the program, as well as proposing federal public initiatives for the development of bioinputs, aiming to strengthen the use of these inputs, promoting a more Brazilian sustainable agriculture and livestock.
The Council composed of representatives of the public and private sector has as strategic objectives to propose the regulatory framework, foster science, technology and innovation, articulate credit instruments, encourage the implementation of biofactories, promote training, training of technical competence and generate qualified knowledge and information on the development, production and use of bioinputs.
The National Bioinputs Program was implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply in partnership with the productive sector.
The program has a Strategic Council that encourages the use of biological inputs in agriculture, promoting its sustainable development.
The National Bioinputs Program was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and aims to expand and strengthen the use of Bioinputs for sustainable development. Among the strategic actions are support investments in science, technology and innovation, credit and promotion, training, implementation of biofactories and the incentive to the development of state bioinputs programs.
By housing the largest biodiversity on the planet, Brazil is able to become the world's leading player in the area of research and technological innovation in bioinputs.
Bioinputs range from seeds, fertilizers, inoculants, products for plant and animal nutrition, plant extracts, production of natural pest enemies, veterinary vaccines, pesticides made from beneficial microorganisms for disease control to homeopathic products or technologies that have biological assets in their composition. In addition to these, there are the processes for conservation and processing in the post-harvest of fruits and vegetables and soil remineralizers as potentiators of the physical-chemical and biological processes.
The program is structured on the following topics:
- Products for pest and disease control in plants;
- Soil fertility products, plant nutrition and tolerance to adverse environmental conditions;
- Plant and animal genetics, including breeding;
- Veterinary products;
- Animal feed;
- Aquaculture Products;
- Post-harvest products and processing of animal and plant origin.
