New market access in India for Brazilian agricultural products
New market access in India for Brazilian agricultural products
The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement from the Indian authorities granting sanitary approval for the export of bone-derived products used in gelatin production (“bone chips”). This new market access was formalized with the signing of the International Zoosanitary Certificate (CZI).
Since 2023, five other Brazilian products have gained access to the Indian market, including açaí powder, açaí juice, farmed fish (aquaculture), wild-caught fish, and avocado.
India is the 14th largest market for Brazilian agricultural exports, with trade amounting to $2.03 billion in the first nine months of this year. The main products exported were sugar and soybean oil.
This latest market access marks Brazil’s 196th this year, contributing to a total of 274 market accesses in 61 destinations since the start of 2023.
This achievement is the result of coordinated efforts by Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, with support from the agricultural attaché and the Brazilian Embassy in India, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
