Ministry of Agriculture presents Pasture Conversion Program to investors in the United States
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) took part in the Global AgInvesting New York, the world's preeminent gathering of agriculture investment stakeholders. The event took place on April 15-17 at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City, providing attendees with a comprehensive overview of the agricultural investment landscape. Participants could take advantage of unparalleled networking opportunities to build on existing relationships and meet potential new partners.
The Mapa delegation included the participation of the Deputy Secretary of Commerce and International Relations, Julio Ramos, the Director of Trade Promotion and Investments, Marcel Moreira, and the agricultural attaché at the Embassy of Brazil in Washington, Ana Lúcia Viana.
During the event, the National Program for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures into Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Production Systems (PNCPD) was presented. The program aims to incorporate 40 million hectares of degraded pastures into Brazilian productive systems for food, biofuels, and high-productivity forests through the adoption of sustainable production technologies.
Throughout the three days of the event, Mapa representatives met with various investors interested in the PNCPD.
"With this program, we aim not only to double Brazilian production in the next ten years but also to convert degraded pastures into diversified productive areas. The goal is to meet national targets for reducing deforestation and restoring native vegetation, strengthening global food security, and climate resilience," highlighted Marcel Moreira.
"It was a great opportunity for Brazil to engage with private funds, foreign banks, and large companies interested in investing in our country, recognizing our potential for global sustainable development. Representing Minister Carlos Fávaro and Secretary Roberto Perosa, we left the meeting with great prospects and opportunities. Brazil is once again playing a leading role in sustainability and job creation programs, making a significant contribution to combating global food insecurity," commented Julio Ramos.
