MAPA breaks its own record with 100 new market accesses for agribusiness in 2024
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) has achieved a significant milestone, securing 100 new market accesses within just eight months. Since the beginning of President Lula's third term, a total of 178 new markets have been accessed across 58 destinations worldwide.
According to the Ministry’s Secretariat of Trade and International Relations, this new record surpasses the achievements of the past five years: 35 new markets across 22 countries in 2019; 74 across 24 countries in 2020; 77 across 33 countries in 2021; 53 across 26 countries in 2022; and 78 across 39 countries in 2023.
The monthly figures for 2024 show 26 new markets in June (13 countries), 16 in July (9 countries), 15 in May (10 countries), 10 in March (7 countries), 7 in February (6 countries), 9 in January (5 countries), and 5 in April (3 countries).
In August alone, 11 new market accesses have been secured so far, including live sheep and goats for breeding, along with their embryos and semen for Angola; avocados for Costa Rica; bone-in meat for Egypt; poultry and pork meats and offal for Panama; live horses for the European Union; and yerba mate for Indonesia.
"Achieving 100 new market accesses in just eight months, even before the year’s end, is a historic accomplishment for Brazilian agribusiness. This milestone reflects the determination and ongoing efforts of Minister Carlos Fávaro and the entire MAPA team to diversify the agenda and expand opportunities for Brazil’s agricultural products in global trade. Each new success reaffirms our commitment to sustainable growth and the sector's competitiveness. We continually strive to open doors for our farmers on every continent," emphasized Roberto Perosa, Secretary of Trade and International Relations at the Ministry.
