Brazil secures new market access for poultry and beef in Papua New Guinea
The Brazilian government has been informed by Papua New Guinea authorities of their approval for health certificates, allowing the import of Brazilian poultry meat, mechanically separated poultry, and boneless beef cuts.
Initially, exports will be carried out by Brazilian industrial plants that were inspected and approved by the Papua New Guinean government last year.
Negotiations for poultry market access began in 2020, while talks for beef exports followed in 2022, spurred by the Brazilian private sector's interest in the country's 9 million-strong market—the second largest in Oceania, after Australia.
With these approvals, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 119th agricultural market access in 2024, adding to a total of 197 new export opportunities across 59 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
These accomplishments are the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
