Brazil secures market access for cotton products in Saudi Arabia
The Brazilian government has announced the simplification of approval procedures for the export of cotton lint, seed cotton, and cotton by-products (such as cottonseed meal, fiber, and oil) from Brazil to Saudi Arabia.
This achievement marks the sixth successful market access in Saudi Arabia this year. In addition to cotton, Brazilian vegetable seeds gained approval in March, live poultry in August, and flowers and hay in October.
With these latest announcements, Brazil's agribusiness has secured 187 new market access opportunities in 2024 alone, totaling 265 across 61 countries since the beginning of 2023.
This progress aligns with Brazil's standing as the world’s largest cotton exporter. In the first nine months of 2024, the country exported USD 3.68 billion worth of cotton, amounting to 1.90 million tons—surpassing the USD 3.33 billion and 1.68 million tons exported in 2023.
These results reflect the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
