Brazil Gains Access to 15 New Agricultural Markets in the Eurasian Economic Union
The Brazilian government received news of access to 15 markets from the five member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) - Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan - for the export of Brazilian bovine semen and embryos (both "in vivo" and "in vitro").
This represents a significant expansion of Brazilian agricultural products in the EAEU. In addition to the recent authorization for bovine byproducts, Brazil has also gained approval for the export of live swine in May and live cattle in September 2023 to the EAEU, further showcasing the country's growing presence in the region.
These advancements are the result of strengthened bilateral relations with the EAEU, largely due to the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
During the first four months of 2024, Brazil exported over $325 million worth of agribusiness products to the EAEU, including soybeans, beef, green coffee, and raw sugar.
With these new market accesses in the EAEU, Brazil's agribusiness sector has achieved a total of 61 market accesses in 27 countries this year, with a total of 139 market openings in 51 countries since the beginning of President Lula's term.
