Brazil expands meat exports to Peru with new processing plant approvals
Peru’s National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) has approved nine additional Brazilian meat processing plants for export, further strengthening trade ties between the two countries.
Since January 2023, Acre was the only Brazilian state authorized to export pork to Peru. With this new approval, plants in Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, and São Paulo can now supply the Peruvian market. Additionally, a poultry processing facility in Rio Grande do Sul has been approved for exports.
In 2024, Brazil exported over USD 755 million in agricultural products to Peru, including soybeans, textile fibers, fruits, nuts, dairy products, and meat. Brazilian meat exports alone surpassed USD 141 million last year. With the addition of these newly approved plants, pork and poultry exports are expected to grow significantly, benefiting the entire supply chain.
This achievement is the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
