Brazil and Japan sign Memorandum to strengthen agricultural cooperation
During a bilateral meeting between Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, and Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Tetsushi Sakamoto, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture between the two nations.
The primary goal of the agreement is to strengthen trade relations and ensure a stable supply of grains from Brazil to Japan, while also promoting sustainable agrifood systems.
The meeting took place on Friday (13th) in Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso, following the conclusion of the G20 Agriculture Working Group Ministerial Meeting.
"We take great pride in the Brazil-Japan relationship. There are significant opportunities for cooperation in food production and renewable energy," Minister Fávaro said during the meeting.
The Japanese minister emphasized the importance of the memorandum, noting that it addresses key agricultural concerns for both nations. He also congratulated Brazil on successfully hosting the G20 meeting.
In addition to signing the memorandum, the ministers discussed other topics, including energy transition. During his recent visit to Japan, Fávaro met with Toyota representatives to explore the production of vehicles powered by renewable fuels in Brazil, aiming to boost the country’s agribusiness sector and contribute to global sustainability.
