BILATERAL MEETING
Bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia strengthens partnership for a sustainable agriculture
In addition to the global discussions involving the 23 ministerial authorities and other delegations at the G20 Brazil Agriculture Working Group (AWG) meetings, the event also serves as a platform for advancing bilateral negotiations between participating countries.
On Thursday (12th), Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman A. Al-Fadley, emphasizing the importance of the Saudi delegation's participation in the G20 meetings.
Minister Al-Fadley acknowledged the growing strength of relations between the two countries. Since taking office, Fávaro has made three visits to Saudi Arabia, seeking investment opportunities in Brazilian agriculture and livestock sectors.
A key focus of their discussions was food security, considering the challenges posed by a growing global population and the need for sustainable advances in food production.
Fávaro highlighted Saudi Arabia’s potential role in Brazil’s National Program for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures into Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry Production Systems (PNCPD). He also discussed facilitating foreign investment through the Eco Invest program, managed by the National Treasury Secretariat (STN).
The meeting concluded with a presentation of additional investment opportunities aimed at bolstering Saudi Arabia's food and nutritional security, while enhancing access to Brazilian food products.
