The publication was organized by FNDE jointly with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), under the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), within the scope of the partnership between Brazil and the Centre of Excellence against Hunger of the World Food Programme in Brazil (WFP). The book covers a retrospective of the best recipes from the contest and reality shows involving school cooks and nutritionists that work under PNAE. During the release, 100 copies of the book were distributed in English.
The president of FNDE, Ms. Fernanda Pacobahyba, stressed the importance of establishing partnerships with various agencies of interest with a view to strengthening the fight against hunger and poverty around the world, focusing on school feeding: “I want to thank the various institutions for the partnership that made it possible to release this book today, that is, the Permanent Delegation of Brazil to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), and the Centre of Excellence against Hunger of the World Food Programme in Brazil”.
The person responsible for ABC's General Coordinating Division of Trilateral Cooperation with International Organizations, Ms. Cecilia Malaguti, said that the publication highlights the importance of the work performed by professionals who play an essential role in school feeding in Brazil: “The cookbook is an homage to all school cooks, it was also prepared with the objective of sharing the process whereby the worth of these important professionals of the National School Feeding Program of Brazil is acknowledged, through South-South Cooperation on school feeding, which is coordinated by ABC, and counts on the partnership with important allies such as FNDE and WFP,” she said.
Mr. Daniel Balabán, Director of the Centre of Excellence Against Hunger of the World Food Programme in Brazil, said that “The publication, also launched in English, is an important instrument for acknowledging the value of the Brazilian school feeding program, and makes it possible for more countries to learn about initiatives that show the worth of the Brazilian dishes served in schools, as well as that of professionals involved in this work, both nutritionists and school cooks.”
