Brazil and Argentina continue technical cooperation projects
A new fact-finding mission of representatives from the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), was sent to Buenos Aires, from May 29 to 31. The mission was carried out with the purpose of negotiating technical cooperation projects in education, gender issues, indigenous peoples, and water resources.
The Brazilian delegation included representatives from institutions of excellence in their areas of work, who share, with their Argentine counterparts, experiences and good practices on topics of interest for mutual development. The team comprised representatives of ABC, the National Agency of Water and Basic Sanitation (ANA), the Ministry of Education (MEC), the Ministry of Women, and the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples (MPI), as well as a representative from the Brazilian Embassy in Buenos Aires.
In a meeting with the Argentine Agency for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance "White Helmets" (ACIAH), ABC’s General Coordinator for Technical Cooperation with Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, Mrs. Maria Augusta Ferraz, recalled that the mission was the result of the 5 th Joint Commission on Technical Cooperation between Brazil and Argentine, held on April 4, 2023, in Brasilia, under the technical cooperation program for the biennium 2023-2025 between the two countries.
Mrs. Ferraz also stressed the commitment made by the Brazilian government with the Argentine government: “As everyone knows, the fulfillment of this fact-finding mission is the materialization of commitments on technical cooperation made during the visit of the President of Brazil, Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to Argentina on January 23, 2023.”
Program
The bilateral technical cooperation program consists of five projects, of which two are in progress, both in the final stages of implementation, in the areas of agriculture and water resources; and three initiatives in environmental issues, health and tourism, which were presented, approved and signed during the 5 th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Technical Cooperation between Brazil and Argentina.
The innovative nature of the projects negotiated during the visit of the Brazilian representatives, in strategic sectors and of mutual interest, aims to renew and further strengthen, through innovative, joint and adequate solutions, the bilateral integration ties that will contribute to the sustainable development of Brazil and Argentina.
