Minister Mariana Gonçalves Madeira became Deputy Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) in 2022. A graduate of the University of Brasilia, with a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Social Communication, and a Master's degree in History, the Minister was most recently in Australia, where she served as Deputy Consul-General in the Consulate-General in Sydney, and held the post of Chief of the Science, Technology and Innovation Sector, and of the Community and Cultural sectors in the same Consulate-General. In 2018, she was Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy to Yaounde, Cameroun. In Brazil, she became Minister, Second Class, in 2017, while holding the position of head of the IBSA Forum Division and BRICS Grouping. She began her diplomatic career in the Consular Assistance Division (DAC). Her permanent and temporary missions abroad took place at the Consulate General in Nagoya, in 1997 and in 2004; at the Embassy in Tokyo, between 2000 and 2004; at the Embassy in Canberra, in 2011; at the Consulate General in Sydney, between 2013 and 2016, and between 2019 and 2022; and at the Embassy in Yaounde, in 2018.
