Mr. Ambassador Ruy Pereira has been the Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) since 2018. Previously, Mr. Pereira served as Ambassador of Brazil in Caracas, Venezuela, and was Permanent Delegate to the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) in 2012 and 2013. While in office abroad, Mr. Pereira was Consul General of Brazil in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Brazil in Buenos Aires, Argentina, among other posts. In Brasília, Mr. Pereira was appointed Chief of Staff to the Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, from 2003 to 2006, and served as Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Advisor to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Mr. Pereira was later designated as Coordinator of the Inter-Ministerial Working Groups (IMWG) responsible for the candidatures of Professor José Graziano da Silva to the Director-General's Office at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 2011; for the candidature of Mr. Ambassador Roberto Azevedo to the Director-General's Office of the World Trade Organization (WTO), in 2013; and for the candidature of Dr. Flávia Piovesan to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), in 2017. Mr. Pereira is also a full member of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group on International Humanitarian Cooperation, as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
