Bilateral Cooperation
Brazil's technical cooperation in the bilateral modality with other developing countries is directly implemented under bilateral framework agreements for technical cooperation, in response to specific requests received from these countries' governments, through Brazilian Embassies abroad or foreign Embassies in Brasilia. It is governed by the South-South cooperation principles and marked by its distinctive contribution towards strengthening Brazil's ties with partner countries.
This represents a long-term investment for Brazil , since it heightens the Brazilian reach and influence with its development partners and broadens international opportunities in a wide range of fields, while also creating a positive agenda on issues of common interest, such as health; food and nutritional security; vocational education; governance; the fight against transnational illegalities; the fight against international agricultural protectionism; animal and plant health; education; and the environment. This positive agenda interacts with other Brazilian efforts and initiatives concerning the political, economic-financial, commercial, investment, scientific-technological, innovation, infrastructure, and cultural fields, among others, to compound, strengthen, amplify, and dynamize Brazil's bilateral relations with partner countries.
ABC has implemented no less than 3,000 bilateral SSC projects in about 108 countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and Oceania, in collaboration with over 120 Brazilian institutions whose technical excellence or proven experience in solutions for economic and social development is widely acknowledged.
As of 2021, there are roughly 150 ongoing projects being developed in partnership with 103 Brazilian institutions in 32 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia. Some of the main subjects of these ongoing initiatives are: Public Administration; Agriculture; Science and Technology; Culture; Social Development; Education and School Feeding; Energy; Industry and Commerce; Health; Public Security; and Defense.
