International Seminar presents a strategy for the development of National Integration Routes
Brasilia (DF) – At the International Seminar, which will take place over the next two Tuesdays, August 9th and 16th, the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) will present the National Integration Routes Strategy to representatives of partner countries. The Program works to promote the development of regions and strengthen local production chains. The meetings, which will be open and do not require prior registration, will take place through the Zoom platform and those interested can access the link.
“This platform was built to leverage the National Integration Routes Strategy. It concentrates information about the Routes and hubs, what is produced, data on those who produce it, and offers the entire country the opportunity to be included in these productive systems”, highlights the national secretary of Mobility and Regional and Urban Development of the MDR, Sandra Holanda.
The Rota-S Platform was developed from a partnership between the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), a multilateral organization linked to the United Nations (UN), and the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). The portal can be accessed through this link. There is also a version for smartphones, which is available for free in app stores under the name Rotas de Integração Nacional (National Integration Routes).
Whoever accesses the Rota-S page or app will find data such as the types of existing Routes, the hubs that are already in operation throughout the country, and which cities are part of each unit. The user can also learn a brief history of each production chain supported by the Strategy and to register the products and the producer. In this last step, the producer must inform the Route which he/she belongs to, which hub he/she integrates, and enter company data.
The Routes are local productive arrangement networks associated with strategic supply chains that promote productive inclusion and sustainable development in Brazilian regions prioritized by the National Policy for Regional Development (PNDR, the acronym in Portuguese). They seek to promote the coordination of public and private actions in selected hubs, sharing information and using collective synergies to provide innovation, exclusivity, competitiveness, and sustainability of the associated enterprises, thus contributing to productive inclusion, innovation, and regional development.
Currently, there are 11 recognized Routes: Açai, Biodiversity, Cacao, Lamb, Circular Economy, Fruit Farming, Milk, Honey, Fashion, Fish, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
In addition to the thousands of small-scale family producers benefiting from the generation of employment and income, the Routes contribute to the production of quality regional food at affordable prices. It is estimated that in recent years more than 1.5 million liters of milk and dairy products have been produced in the Milk Route hubs; around 157 thousand tons of cacao and derivatives through the hubs of the Cacao Route; 161 tons of açai; 940 tons of honey and derivatives; 1.2 million tons of various fruits through the Fruit Farming Route.
The Lamb Route, on the other hand, is estimated to have a herd of 14 million lambs and for the fish, 841,000 tons. There are also biodiversity products, which total around 22 tons.
Agenda
Representatives from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Mexico are expected to participate.
On August 9th, the meeting will begin at 9:30 am, with the participation of Brazilian and international authorities, including Júlio Worman, representative of IFAD, and the national secretary of Mobility and Regional and Urban Development of the MDR, Sandra Holanda.
The program for the first day also includes a presentation on the Rota-S Platform and its main features and the presentation of two success stories: one on sustainability in the poultry production chain in Goiás and the other on the experience of the Sertão do São Francisco hub of the Lamb Route, in Pernambuco.
The last activity of the day includes a presentation on the importance of the experience of the National Integration Routes in promoting the development of regions, strengthening local productive arrangements, and generating employment and income for small-scale producers.
On the 16th, also starting at 9:30 am, there will be a technical presentation on the experience of establishing the Honey Route, addressing the mechanism for defining a Route, how to find producers, the creation of the Management Committee of the hubs, and how they will feed the Rota-S Platform.
Then, it will be the producers' turn to learn the features of the tool, the information that can be added to the system, and the ease of access, both through the computer and through the app.
Another two successful experiences will also be presented: from the hub of the Integrated Region of Economic Development of the Federal District (Ride-DF) under the Fruit Farming Route, which also includes producers from cities near Goiás and Minas Gerais; and the Apiculture Hub of the North of Minas under the Honey Route.
Participants will receive certificates. To receive yours, register at: http://rotas.avaliacao.org.br/CertificadoParticipacao/
