Learn about the electronic system for filing of PCT applications
As of October 20, 2014, the ePCT-filing system is the means recommended by INPI for submission of international PCT applications and related documents. The ePCT is an online service by WIPO that allows the Receiving Offices, International Authorities, and registered users to have safe electronic access to the international applications filed through the PCT.
By using the ePCT system, you may file international applications online, submit online requests for different actions (both to the RO, ISA/IPEA and to WIPO), review and check updated bibliographical data and documents in the international application (including those that have not been published yet).
The benefits of the ePCT system are the following:
– Reduction in the national and international fees for international PCT application;
– No need for installation and maintenance of local software;
– Security, due to a digital certificate provided free of charge by WIPO itself;
– The user may keep, monitor, and review the several PCT portfolios;
– Immediate numbering of the PCT application upon filing;
– The entire processing during the international phase will happen electronically.
